What do a real estate appraiser, a loan officer and a restaurant owner have in common? Not much...until now.
On July 1, 2006 Greg and Suzanne Althaus, loan officer and appraiser, took over ownership of Mt. Hood Roasters Restaurant @ Welches located on Hwy. 26 next to the Clackamas County Bank.
While they have never owned a restaurant before, they did own a
printing company for the first 15 years of their marriage.
They are from the Clackamas area and have a cabin on The Mountain.
On Labor Day, 2 years ago, they spent the weekend at the cabin and
Suzanne and her daughter came to The Roasters for coffee. They came
back with a flyer and said we are going to buy this restaurant.
Greg's answer was a firm NO. He did not want a business again and he
did not want employees again. However, here he is 2 years later, the
owner of Mt. Hood Roasters Restaurant @ Welches.
Greg says the success of any business is determined in large part by
the people you work with and they feel very fortunate to have a
great crew.
Suzanne says, we want everyone to know that we do not plan on
changing much. We Love being "Welches Living Room" and want to
enhance that. We would not want to change the things that first
attracted us to this place - the relaxed family atmosphere, good
food and friendly people.
We serve breakfast all day until 7:00pm at night and we have added
free wireless internet.
The
restaurant is open 7 days a week. Our fall and winter hours
are Sunday through Thursday 5:30am to 7pm, Friday 5:30am to 9pm
and Saturdays 5:30am to 11pm.
Our Certified Angus Beef burger baskets with our special ale fries are a mainstay on our menu and you will love Ji Yeon’s Korean BBQ Teriyaki. We also offer Cascade Glacier Ice Creams and old fashioned hand dipped milkshakes.
Come by and enjoy a hot mocha or latte with one of our famous beer donuts on your way up to the slopes or ‘over the hill.’ Don’t forget to stop by on a Friday or Saturday night for Live Music! Enjoy friends and family, sip on a glass of wine or one of our local Ales.
